Statement on the Passing of Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, Executive Director of UNFPA

Ray Chambers, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Health in Agenda 2030, expressed today his condolences over the loss of Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin, Executive Director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA).

“Today, the global health community has lost a true champion for mothers and their children,” said Ray Chambers, UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Health in Agenda 2030 and for Malaria. “My long-time friend, Babatunde, will be sorely missed and remembered as one of the world’s greatest champions for women’s health. We owe it to him to redouble our efforts and move forward together to ensure the health and prosperity of every mother, and every child, everywhere. My thoughts are with his family today.”
